Clear pavements without delay, wide enough that traffic is impeded no more than unavoidable; in icy conditions grit them, as a rule, to their full width. Clear a path to the road and to the property entrance at least 1.50 m wide.
Only sand, chippings and similar abrasive material with a grain size of no more than 5 mm. Salt only in small amounts against compacted ice and snow; remove the residues immediately after thawing.
In pedestrian zones and traffic-calmed areas without a pavement, a 1.5 m strip along the property boundary counts as the pavement.

Pile snow on the part of the pavement next to the road beside the cleared area or, if that is not possible, at the very edge of the road. Where possible, put it in front gardens.
