When there is snow or black ice, clear the snow by 7 am at the latest and grit when icy. Repeat as often as needed until 8 pm.
Clear and grit the pavement along the full length of the property, as wide as pedestrians need. Where there is no marked-off pavement, the edge of the street counts, usually about 1 m, in pedestrian zones about 2 m.
Only use grit with a lasting anti-slip effect; salt and salt mixtures are banned. De-icing agents are allowed only in icy conditions at particularly dangerous spots such as steps or steep slopes.
Residents must keep the pavement safe themselves, even within the compulsory street cleaning area. At pedestrian crossings and public transport stops, also clear and grit passages and access routes.
