Düsseldorf
Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be cleared immediately. Snow falling or ice forming after 8 pm must be cleared by 7 am the next working day, or by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.
Keep the pavement clear of snow to a width of 1 m; where there is no separate pavement, both sides of the street to the width required for pedestrians, at least 1 m. At stops and access to depot containers, also keep access to the kerb clear and gritted when icy.
Grit salt on pavements is generally banned, allowed only at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps, bridge approaches and steep gradients. Tree pits and planted areas must not be gritted with salt or other de-icing materials, nor may snow mixed with them be stored there.
Anyone who fails to promptly clear and grit as required between 7 am and 8 pm commits an administrative offence; each offence may be fined up to €500.
