Snow falling and ice forming between 7 am and 8 pm must be cleared without delay once the snowfall has stopped or the ice has formed. Snow or ice occurring after 8 pm must be cleared by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.

Clear pavements of snow to a width of 1.20 m as a rule; narrower pavements in full width. Where pedestrian zones and traffic-calmed areas have no pavement, a 1.20 m strip along the property boundary counts as the pavement.

When icy, grit with de-icing material such as sand, not ash. De-icing agents only to the extent strictly necessary to remove traffic hazards; planted or green areas must not be gritted with de-icing agents.

Clear pavements of snow at least 1.2 m wide, or 0.6 m where footfall is lighter. Clear an access to the road at least 1 m wide in front of every house.

Use gritting material such as sand, chippings or sawdust. De-icing agents only to the unavoidable minimum, for example exceptionally in freezing rain.

Breaches can be fined up to €500.
