Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 7 pm must be cleared immediately after snowfall ends. Snow falling after 7 pm: by 8 am the following day.
Keep pavements clear of snow over the width needed by pedestrians. On shared spaces and residential streets without a pavement or with one that is too narrow, a strip at least 1.00 m wide in front of each property, measured from the walkable edge of the roadway, counts as pavement.
Grit with abrasive materials (e.g. sand, ash, granules). Road salt is generally not permitted, only as an exception and as far as strictly necessary if abrasive grit is not enough to make the surface safe.
The city carries out winter service in pedestrian streets and inner-city shared spaces; there, owners only clear accesses and driveways up to the middle of the street and grit them when icy. Where roadway cleaning is transferred to owners, winter maintenance of the roadway is excluded.
