Keep pavements at least 1.50 m wide clear of snow and ice, narrower ones over their full width. Where there is no pavement, keep a sufficiently wide strip beside the carriageway, or, where there is no verge, at the outermost edge of the carriageway, clear.

Grit with abrasive materials; environmentally harmful chemicals are banned. On steps and ramps the use of de-icing substances such as salt or brine is allowed.
