Weekdays 7 am to 8 pm, Sundays and public holidays 9 am to 8 pm: remove snow and ice on footpaths and cycle paths immediately after the snowfall ends or the ice forms. Snow or ice after 8 pm by 7 am the next day, by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.
Keep footpaths and cycle paths along the property frontage clear of snow to a total width of at least 1.50 m and grit them when icy, including pedestrian crossings. At bus and school bus stops, keep safe access clear.
Grit with abrasive materials as a rule, repeatedly if necessary. Salt and other de-icers only in exceptional weather such as freezing rain or at particularly dangerous spots such as steps, ramps and steep slopes; never on tree pits or planted areas.
The duty applies in the streets listed in Annexes 1 and 2 of the bylaw; in Annex 2 streets it covers pavements, walkable verges and pedestrian streets. Breaches can be fined up to €500.
