Within general traffic hours, usually from 7 am on weekdays and from 9 am on Sundays and public holidays until 8 pm, remove snow once it has stopped falling and ice as soon as it forms.
Clear and grit pavements, shared foot and cycle paths, separate cycle paths and connecting paths and steps along the property, at the width needed for traffic, where possible at least 1.5 m.
Salt and other de-icers are generally banned, allowed only in exceptional weather such as freezing rain or at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps and steep slopes; brine may be used on cycle paths and shared foot and cycle paths. Do not put salt on tree pits and planted areas.
In the pedestrian streets Große Straße, Holm, Nordermarkt, Schiffbrückstraße, Südermarkt and parts of Nikolaistraße and Rote Straße, the TBZ clears and grits. Breaches can be fined up to €511.
