The duties apply from 7 am to 8 pm and must be carried out without delay whenever it snows. Removal of snow that fell and ice that formed after 8 pm must begin by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.
When it snows, clear pavements and bus or tram stops wide enough that traffic is not impeded more than unavoidable. Where there is no pavement on either side, a 1.5 m strip at the edge of the road counts as pavement.
Grit pavements and accesses to the road with salt-free materials, never ash or coal slack. Road salt only exceptionally where there is a risk of extreme ice (freezing rain), never on tree pits or planted areas.
Sweep up grit after the snow has melted; the municipal depot removes it free of charge. Breaches can be fined up to €500.
