The duties apply from 7 am to 8 pm, on Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 8 pm, without delay whenever it snows.
Clear pavements and accesses to crossings, the road and the property entrance across their full width, at least 1.50 m. Where there is no pavement, keep a strip at least 0.50 m wide clear on the road along the property boundary.
Grit mainly with sand, chippings or similar materials, never ash. De-icing salt only where there is a particular risk, such as steps or steep slopes, or in freezing rain, and never on concrete surfaces.
Where there is a pavement on one side only, properties on the pavement side are responsible in years ending in an even number, properties on the opposite side in years ending in an odd number. Where undeveloped land, green space, a side street junction or agricultural or forestry land lies opposite, the properties on the pavement side remain responsible at all times.
