Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be cleared without delay after the snowfall or icy conditions end. Snow falling or ice forming after 8 pm must be cleared by 7 am the next day, or by 9 am if the next day is a Sunday or public holiday.
Keep the pavement clear of snow up to a width limited to 1.20 m. At public transport and school bus stops, ensure safe access and safe boarding and alighting.
Grit pavements when icy; salt or other de-icing substances are banned as a rule, allowed only in special weather conditions (e.g. freezing rain) or at hazardous points such as steps, ramps or steep slopes, where abrasive materials fail to reduce slipperiness. Tree pits and planted areas must not be gritted with salt or other de-icing agents.
