Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm (Sundays and public holidays 9 am to 8 pm) must be removed immediately after the snowfall ends. Snow falling or ice forming after 8 pm must be cleared by 7 am on weekdays, or 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.
Keep the pavement clear of snow over a width of at least 1 m. Where the carriageway and pavement are not separated, keep a suitably wide strip clear at the edges of the street.
Grit pavements with abrasive material when icy. De-icing substances such as road salt are banned, except on pavement sections on ramps, bridges and steps.
Breaches of the cleaning and winter service duties are administrative offences punishable by a fine of up to 1,000 euro.
