Honest questions. Honest answers.

What does cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the type and scope of the cleaning and on the region. The cleaning calculator gives you a first estimate. The company tells you the exact price when you send a request.

Do you still have capacity?

Just send a request.

How does billing work?

The company that does the work sends you the invoice. The portal does not invoice you and costs you nothing.

Who is liable in Bottrop if nobody clears the snow?

You are. Even on holiday. Especially on holiday.

What are the snow clearing times in Bottrop?

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be removed immediately once the snowfall stops or the ice forms. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next day.

Snow clearing duty

Bottrop

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be removed immediately once the snowfall stops or the ice forms. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next day.

Keep pavements clear of snow over a width of 1.50 m and grit them when there is ice or packed snow, including in front of shared plots (e.g. garage courts) and up to the middle in front of connecting paths. At bus and school bus stops, clear and grit so that people can get on and off safely.

Grit with abrasive materials (e.g. sand). Salt and other de-icers are banned in principle and only allowed in exceptional weather (e.g. freezing rain) or at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps, bridge approaches and steep slopes. Do not put salt on tree pits and planted areas or pile snow containing salt on them.

Annex 2 of the bylaw sets out whether BEST AöR or the property owners are responsible for winter service on pavements and carriageways.

The town's bylaw is authoritative: Street cleaning bylaw of 10 December 2003, as amended by the 20th amendment of 11 December 2025

Dorsten

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be removed immediately once the snowfall stops or the ice forms. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next day.

Keep pavements clear of snow over a width of 1.50 m and grit them when there is ice or packed snow. At bus and school bus stops, clear and grit so that people can get on and off safely; at stops built out into the road, the town handles winter service.

Salt and other de-icers are banned in principle and only allowed in exceptional weather (e.g. freezing rain) or at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps, bridge approaches and steep slopes. Do not put salt on tree pits and planted areas or pile snow containing salt on them.

The duties apply to the carriageways and pavements specially marked in the street register (Annex 2). Where winter maintenance of the carriageway has been transferred, pedestrian crossings, crossing aids and crossing points must also be gritted, using abrasive grit in preference to de-icers.

The town's bylaw is authoritative: Street cleaning and fees bylaw of 11 June 2013, last amended by the 14th amending bylaw of 18 December 2025
