Honest questions. Honest answers.

What does cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the type and scope of the cleaning and on the region. The cleaning calculator gives you a first estimate. The company tells you the exact price when you send a request.

Do you still have capacity?

Just send a request.

How does billing work?

The company that does the work sends you the invoice. The portal does not invoice you and costs you nothing.

Who is liable in Bergisch Gladbach if nobody clears the snow?

You are. Even on holiday. Especially on holiday.

What are the snow clearing times in Bergisch Gladbach?

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm (Sundays and public holidays 9 am to 8 pm) must be removed immediately after the snowfall ends. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays, 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next morning.

Snow clearing duty

Bergisch Gladbach

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm (Sundays and public holidays 9 am to 8 pm) must be removed immediately after the snowfall ends. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays, 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next morning.

Keep pavements (except narrow kerb strips) clear of snow over a width of 1.50 m and grit them when icy. Where there is no separate pavement (e.g. traffic-calmed areas), a 1.50 m strip from the walkable edge counts as the pavement.

Salt and other de-icing agents are generally banned; they are only allowed in exceptional weather such as freezing rain when abrasive grit is not enough, or at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps and steep slopes. Do not salt tree pits or planted areas or pile salty snow on them.

The duties apply to the pavements and carriageways marked in the street register, to the extent set out there. At public transport and school bus stops, clear and grit so that people can get on and off safely.

The town's bylaw is authoritative: Street cleaning and fees bylaw as amended by the "XX." amending bylaw (ordinal not filled in by the city) of 16 December 2025

Wermelskirchen

Snow and ice arising between 7 am and 8 pm must be removed immediately once the snowfall stops or the ice forms. Snow falling after 8 pm must be removed by 7 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays the next day.

Keep pavements clear of snow over a width of 1.20 m and grit them when there is ice or packed snow. Where there is no separate pavement, keep a 1.20 m strip at the edge of the road free of snow and ice.

Use abrasive, salt-free grit such as sand, chippings or gravel with the ‘Blue Angel’ eco-label in preference to de-icers. Do not put salt or other de-icers on tree pits and planted areas, and do not pile snow containing salt on them.

Winter maintenance of pavements is generally the responsibility of the owners of adjoining properties served by the street. Breaches can be fined up to €1,000 (up to €500 if negligent).

The town's bylaw is authoritative: Street cleaning bylaw of 14 December 2011
