The cleaning duty, including snow and ice clearance, applies on weekdays between 7 am and 8 pm and on Sundays and public holidays between 8 am and 8 pm.
Clear pavements narrower than 1.50 m completely of snow, others at least 1.50 m wide, and grit them in icy conditions. Keep passages at least 3 m wide clear at pedestrian crossings and junctions.
Grit with de-icing or abrasive materials. On pavements, de-icing materials are only allowed in unusual weather such as freezing rain, when abrasive materials no longer have any effect.
Breaches can be punished with a fine of up to €5,000.

Helmstedt
For pedestrian daytime safety, clear or grit from 8 am on weekdays and from 9 am on Sundays and public holidays. If snow has fallen overnight, this must be done by 8 am on weekdays and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays; repeat as needed until 8 pm.
Pavements narrower than 1.20 m completely, otherwise at least 1.20 m wide; cycle paths narrower than 0.80 m completely, otherwise at least 0.80 m; shared cycle/foot paths narrower than 2 m completely, otherwise at least 2 m wide. Where there is no pavement, strips at least 1.20 m wide beside or at the outermost edge of the carriageway; in pedestrian zones, at least 2 m from the property line.
Harmful chemicals, salt and ash are banned. Road salt only in extreme exceptions such as freezing rain, where other means are not enough, and at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps, bridge access points or steep gradients.
Breaches can be punished with a fine of up to €5,000.00.
