Clear or grit promptly once the event occurs, repeating as needed until 8 pm. If snow has fallen after 8 pm, this must be done by 7 am at the latest, and by 9 am on Sundays and public holidays.
Clear cycle paths, pavements and shared cycle/foot paths narrower than 1.50 m completely, otherwise at least 1.50 m wide. Where there is no pavement, keep a strip at least 1 m wide beside or at the outermost edge of the carriageway clear; in pedestrian zones clear a strip at least 1.50 m wide throughout.
In icy conditions grit with sand or other abrasive materials; salt and other de-icing substances are banned, except in unusual weather such as freezing wet surfaces or freezing rain, or at dangerous spots such as steps, ramps and steep gradients.
Breaches can be punished with a fine of up to €5,000.
