In snow and icy conditions, pavements and cycle paths must be clear of snow and ice on weekdays from 7 am to 8 pm, on Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 8 pm.
Keep pavements narrower than 1.00 m completely clear, others at least 1.00 m wide. Where there is no pavement, keep a strip of at least 0.50 m clear next to the carriageway.
In icy conditions, grit with sand or other abrasive materials. Environmentally harmful chemicals are banned; road salt only in exceptional cases at dangerous spots such as steps or ramps, never on tree pits or planted areas.
Breaches can be punished with a fine of up to €5,000.
