By 7 am on weekdays and by 8 am on Sundays and public holidays, pavements must be cleared of snow and gritted if icy; repeat as often as necessary until 8 pm.
The pavement is the footway; where none exists, the road itself at its edge, in the width needed for pedestrians.
Grit with sand or other suitable material; corrosive substances such as de-icing salt are banned.
Anyone connected to the city's street cleaning service is exempt from cleaning and winter duties for the connected areas, but must still clear snow falling from cornices, balconies or roofs immediately and keep the relevant gutters clear.
