Clear and grit between 7 am and 8 pm, without delay once it snows.
Clear the pavement to a width such that traffic is not obstructed more than unavoidable. Clear an access at least 1.25 m wide from each property to the road and to the entrance.
Use mainly sand, chippings or similar abrasive material as grit, ash only without excessive soiling. De-icing salt and chemical agents are banned on pavements with trees or planting and in the pedestrian zone, except on steps, bridges and at public transport stops; elsewhere they are allowed only in small amounts and solely against black ice.
Where a street is built up on both sides but has only one pavement, the clearing and gritting duty alternates yearly: in even-numbered years the frontagers on the pavement side, in odd-numbered years those opposite, in proportion to their property's road frontage.
The town's bylaw is authoritative: Street cleaning bylaw of 5 October 1979, last amended by the 3rd supplementary bylaw of 23 August 2001 (winter service, sections 10-11, as amended by the 2nd supplementary bylaw of 6 February 1992)
