Offenbach am Main
Snow and ice occurring from 7 am to 10 pm on weekdays, and 9 am to 8 pm on Sundays and public holidays, must be cleared without delay, repeated as often as needed. Snow falling after 10 pm must be cleared by 7 am on weekdays, or by 9 am the following day on Sundays and public holidays.
Clear a 1.50 m wide strip of the pavement and, when slippery, grit or scatter abrasive material, so far as local conditions allow; where the pavement is more than 3 m wide, keep a path at least 1.50 m wide clear. Provide a 1.50 m wide access to the road and to the property entrance for each property, and always an access to pedestrian crossings.
Use mainly sand, chippings, granulate or similarly abrasive material as grit. De-icing agents such as salt are generally banned, allowed only at hydrants, stopcocks and manhole covers, during freezing rain or black ice, and at dangerous spots such as steps or steep gradients. De-icing agents are banned on tree pits and green areas.
Violations can be fined up to 1,000 euros.
