Clear snow and grit when icy on weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm, on Sundays and public holidays from 8 am to 7 pm; the area must already be safe to walk on by 7 am or 8 am. Repeat as often as necessary until 7 pm.
Keep the footway safe at least 1 m wide, in pedestrian zones 3 m from the property boundary. At bus stops, clear and grit the pavement at the edge of the road.
Only use grit with a lasting abrasive effect. Road salt and other environmentally harmful substances are generally banned; in freezing rain, on steep steps or steep slopes, road salt is allowed to the extent necessary.
Anyone who wilfully or negligently fails to make the pavement safe, or does so late, can be fined up to five hundred euros.
