Grit with abrasive materials such as sand or chippings in icy, frosty or slippery conditions, not with de-icing salt or corrosive substances. Where there is a particular danger of slipping, for example on steps or slopes, de-icing salt is allowed.
A fine of up to five hundred euros for wilful or negligent breach of the duty to keep the pavement safe.
