Cleared and gritted from 7 am on weekdays including Saturdays, from 9 am on Sundays and public holidays. If snow falls or ice forms later, clear and grit without delay and repeatedly if needed, until 8:30 pm.
Clear or grit footways at least 1.00 m wide, shared cycle and footpaths at least 2.50 m. Where there is no pavement, a strip at least 1.00 m wide at the edge of the road; clear an access to the road at least 1.00 m wide for each residential property.
Grit with sand, chippings or ash. Salt and other environmentally harmful substances are generally excluded, allowed exceptionally on outdoor steps and in freezing rain where ice cannot otherwise be removed without disproportionate effort, then only to the minimum.
Where the city clears or grits certain footways for commuter traffic, frontagers remain under their obligations.
